The relationship between gender and poverty has been a growing concern in recent decades. This article addresses what has been called the “feminization” of poverty and household leadership. The cases presented show the difficulties faced by low-income women who support households under precarious conditions, which have an adverse effect on their (and their children’s) quality of life.
