Abstract
RIOS-FLORES, Jesús Armando. Regional competitiveness in Mexico, structural factors and knowledge activities: determinants and spatial effects 2003-2013. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.72, pp.377-403. Epub June 16, 2023. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20231834.
This paper presents an analysis of state competitiveness in Mexico through effects of structural factors and knowledge activities, using spatial econometric techniques in the period 2003-2013. The results show differentiated and dynamic spatial adjustment processes in response to the regional economic environment. In the factor model, investment is the most relevant factor, while education and innovation show relative declines as well as the location effect. In the activities model, production and application exhibit positive effects, although in different years, while acquisition had negative effects in 2013, with increases in the neighbor effect.
