Abstract

VARELA LLAMAS, Rogelio  and  RETAMOZA YOCUPICIO, Ricardo Rodolfo. Exports, economic activity and job market in Mexico, 2005-2019. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.63, pp.537-561.  Epub Oct 21, 2020. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20201594.

In the document two models are estimated, one for the tradable goods sector and another for the non-tradable. The effect of export activity on industrial activity and labor informality is analyzed as proxy variables of both sectors, respectively. The results of the self-regressive model of distributed lags indicate that exports are positively related to industrial activity and negatively to labor informality rates, maintaining a cointegration relationship and identifying temporary shocks in the short term. An increase in exports is essential to reduce the labor informality rate.

Keywords : labor informality; exports; industrial activity; cointegration.
