The contribution of the study is the identification of the economic structure of the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. For this, the analysis of factors and main components is used and seven groups are located. In the first two, economic activities of the tertiary sector prevail; in the remaining five, the secondary ones predominate; those of the primary sector are scarce and appear modestly in the three groupings. The foregoing has a historical background and is consistent with the current production and employment of the entity. The results of this work contribute to the state of the art of the regional economy of Mexico´s entities.

Keywords : regional economics; input-output regional matrix; intersectoral flows; industrial groupings.
