Abstract

RIOS-QUEZADA, Gerardo  and  OBREGON-BIOSCA, Saúl Antonio. The accessibility by the road transport infrastructure and industrial location theory. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.55, pp.581-617. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est2017752.

The road transport infrastructures allow territorial transformation and encourage the economic and social development. This research considers the Random Utility Theory (RUT) to explore the characteristics that influence the industrial location by generalized linear models. The empirical analysis considers the Mexican Bajío Region, to analyze the effect that induces travel time in the accessibility potential traditionally used in the industrial location. The results shown that this variable should be considered directly proportional to travel time and inversely proportional to the market size, to be accordant to the RUT. The accessibility shows a significant impact but not decisive by itself.

Keywords : industrial location; accessibility; regional development; random utility theory.
