Abstract

ESPINOSA-ESPINOSA, Moisés Isaac. Remote Laboratory: Control and operation of a Tektronix Oscilloscope using the TCP/IP protocol. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.3, e1894.  Epub Nov 07, 2022. ISSN 2594-0732.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2022.23.3.018.

A remote laboratory is an auxiliary technology to improve the traditional educational system and to extend its coverage to isolated areas in an efficient and low-cost way. This work presents the design and development of a remote control, data acquisition and storage subsystem for a Tektronix oscilloscope, model TDS3054B. This subsystem called SCAADOS presents a client-server architecture and uses the TCP/IP communication protocol. The subsystem is integrated by an application software, which is developed under Mealy's finite state machine principle and implemented in the Labview 2020 programming platform. Also, this paper presents the technical tests that determined the adequate performance of the subsystem and provides two technical comparisons, the first one is at software level and the second one is at system level. The first is between the proposed software and the Tektronix e* Scope software, and the second is between the SCAADOS and SCADA systems.

Keywords : Remote Laboratory; Labview; TCP/IP protocol; oscilloscope; Internet; and Mealy Machine.
