Abstract

QUEZADA-QUEZADA, José Carlos; FLORES-GARCIA, Ernesto; GONZALEZ-CADENA, Maribel  and  BAUTISTA-LOPEZ, Jorge. HMI-PLC-ADF-CA Motor system to speed control. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.4, e040. ISSN 2594-0732.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2018.19n4.040.

The present article proposes speed control for AC motors by means of a system conformed by Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) - Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) - Variable Frequency Drive (AFD) for three control modes; pre-set speeds, open loop and closed loop, which are used in various industrial processes. The graphical user interfaces designed and developed control algorithms are shown, as well as the logic control, monitoring and animation rules for each one of the control modes. The efficiency of the speed system is achieved by separating logic of safety programming and critical control in PLC and logic of control, monitoring and animation in HMI. For closed loop control mode only the design is shown, tuning of the Proportional + Integral + Derivative controller would depend on the application. Proposal is based on the IEC-61131-3 international standards for development of control algorithms in Ladder Diagram (LD) programming language and by ANSI - ISA 101.01 for design of man machine interfaces, which guarantees its functionality in real industrial applications. It highlights importance of generating HMI - PLC - ADF - CA Motor systems for applications in machines or production processes based on international standards and the reduction of control logic in PLCs optimizing their use in control, while all the other rules of Control, monitoring and animation are executed on a computer with greater speed and processing capacity.

Keywords : Variable frequency drive; programmable logic controller; human machine interfaz; ladder diagram algorithm; supervisory control and data acquisition.
