In this paper we study jointly the decision of leaving parental home and the choice of tenure regime of young people. Thereby we obtain a broader view of the transition from youth to adulthood and of the evolution of the residential system. First, using a Multinomial Logit model with three alternatives, we will determine the factors influencing the decisions of leaving parental home and housing tenure. Secondly, we will analyze these decisions by gender and we will establish the similarities and differences between the behavior of men and women young. Using decomposition techniques, we will perform a more thorough assessment of the difference in outcome variable of model between these groups of young people.
