Abstract

GARRIDO-RODRIGUEZ, Laura Alejandra  and  PEREZ-CAMPUZANO, Enrique. Employment situation in the services sector of Metropolitan Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.101, pp.83-111.  Epub June 26, 2020. ISSN 2448-7147.  https://doi.org/10.22185/24487147.2019.101.24.

The services are the main providers. In the cities this phenomenon is particularly acute. The transition to service cities has not been easy, terms of employment, has been accompanied by polarization, precarization and labor segmentation. The dualization of the labor market in tertiary cities has been insisted on. In this article, it is argued that it does not matter if there are advanced services or not, the quality of employment shows signs of precarization. So, rather than looking at services as the generators of inequality, we will have to look for explanations in the functioning of the labor market.

Keywords : Services sector; employment; precarization; dualization.
