PEREZ CAMPUZANO, Enrique e SANTOS CERQUERA, Clemencia. Recent migratory tendencies in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2013, vol.19, n.76, pp.53-88. ISSN 2448-7147.
There is evidence of the transition of the migration pattern in many developed countries. The main flows, rural to urban, have been evolved to urban to urban, indicating the change in many other important factors: urban/regional economic development, increase of the diseconomies in main cities. In the transition or in developing world the transition hypothesis has been less tested, even though, there are some important facts that support the transition of the migration patterns. In this paper, the Mexican case in analyzed, using data from census' samples (2000 and 2010), the change in direction and intensity of migration is pointed out. The main results indicate the metropolitan to metropolitan movements are the most relevant and the decrease of those rural-urban and rural-metropolitan. Taking into account the diversity of the displacements, a theoretical model of migration is proposed.
