Resumen
ESCOBAR-MENDEZ, Aracely. Employment growth in manufacturing industry in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2011, vol.17, n.67, pp.251-276. ISSN 2448-7147.
The productive dynamic of a territory is the result of location decisions made by individuals and firms, both agents respond to different location factors. The document presents an analysis of the employment growth in the manufacturing sector in the main metropolitan zones and cities of México during the 1980-2003 period considering the importance of location factors. Our results show that specialized environments have a negative effect on the growth of manufacturing employment, the internal economies of scale are important for the subsectors mainly producing for the foreign market and low wages increase the dynamism of the manufacturing industry.
