Abstract

JUAREZ, Fátima  and  GAYET, Cecilia. Sexual and reproductive health in adolescents in Mexico: a new analysis framework for the analysis and design of policies. Pap. poblac [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.45, pp.177-219. ISSN 2448-7147.

Despite the government efforts to improve the sexual and reproductive health of young people in Mexico, findings indicate that those have not been successful. The objective of this study is to investigate the policies intended for young people and the way they have been experienced by them, considering the social context in which they are inserted and the operative conditions of the sexual and reproductive health programs. This research uses a new methodology, named Dynamic Contextual Analysis, which allows re-thinking of the prevention policies and actions from a broader perspective. Findings expose the obstacles and opportunities for improving sexual and reproductive policies of young people, and clearly demonstrate the gap between policy and practice, situation that prevents the use of condom among young people.

Keywords : sexual and reproductive health; sexual behavior; adolescents; prevention policies; Mexico.
