Abstract

LOPEZ ESTRADA, Silvia. Estrategias tempo-espaciales de trabajo femenino a domicilio. Pap. poblac [online]. 2001, vol.7, n.29, pp.105-126. ISSN 2448-7147.

Female participation in distinct aspects of domestic labor is increasing as a response to the processes of economic recession and industrial restructuring. This has important consequences on the ecology and social organization of dwellings and their inhabitants. This article, based on information obtained from in-depth interviews, examines the space-time strategies used by a group of domestic laborers in the City of Tijuana to convert the home into a place of work. Such strategies are related to the type of occupation exercised, as well as sociocultural factors, such as the life course and the place women occupy in their own households.
