Abstract

PENICHE CETZAL, Rubí Surema; RAMON MAC, Cristóbal Crescencio; PEDROZA ZUNIGA, Luis Horacio  and  MORA OSUNA, Noé. School Administration Practices in High Schools with High and Low Effectiveness in Aguascalientes, Mexico. RMIE [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.97, pp.447-466.  Epub June 09, 2023. ISSN 1405-6666.

The literature establishes that school administrators' roles are highly relevant and meaningful in schools' results, although the topic has been studied little with regard to Mexico's high schools. Since student performance on standardized tests is worrisome at the high school level, interest has increased in analyzing, from the perspective of school effectiveness, the managerial practices of school administrators. In a mixed study, schools were selected based on their level of effectiveness, through multilevel models; subsequently, the directors of the selected schools were interviewed. The identified practices were decision-making, leadership, school planning, and service provided to students. These practices were present to a greater degree in schools with high effectiveness, a finding consistent with the literature.

Keywords : school effectiveness; high school education; school management; school practices.
