Abstract

RUIZ, Blanca et al. Latin American Network for Research in Statistics Education: Needs, Expectations, and Realities. RMIE [online]. 2021, vol.26, n.88, pp.69-94.  Epub Mar 24, 2021. ISSN 1405-6666.

The need to create a Latin American community in statistics education gave rise to the Latin American Network for Research in Statistics Education (Reliee). The transcendence and permanence of any group, however, depends on the constant review of how its members perceive the group and each other. This article documents the needs, expectations, and realities of the individual members of Reliee. Members' perceptions were compiled from an online questionnaire and analyzed according to Reliee's objectives. The members' primary needs were found to be centered on strengthening research and the scientific community, as well as improving their teaching activity.

Keywords : educational research; statistics teaching; knowledge networks; communities of practice; educational community.
