Abstract

This article centers on analyzing the key points (sequences and outlines) of the news items included on the telecasts of Spain's leading television channels; the focus is the construction of the natural catastrophes and risks of greatest relevance. The text also analyzes the principal roles of the speakers and sources of information appearing in these television news stories, the main characteristics of the audience's reception of the items, and the view of experts who advocate specialized journalism of risk and catastrophes.
