Abstract

This text is related to innovation, based on the requirements of professional knowledge as stipulated in the structural reform of education recently enacted in Mexico. The analysis, starting with the sociological concept of profession, integrates five necessary dimensions for configuring the conditions of education and contexts of performance of the actors responsible for carrying out this reform: a) socio-politics; b) specialized knowledge; c) systematic, specialized, and certified education; d) employment; and e) union organizations. Each one of these dimensions is analyzed by using the pertinent information on the current development and integration of educational professions with different degrees of consolidation.
