Abstract
ACOSTA, Byron and ACOSTA, Miguel. Models of Evaluation for the Accreditation of Majors. Analysis of Composition and a Proposal for Majors in Ecuador. RMIE [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.71, pp.1249-1274. ISSN 1405-6666.
The objective of this study is to propose a model to evaluate the quality of undergraduate majors in business administration in Ecuador. Nine models of evaluation from other Latin American countries were analyzed to determine their composition, conceptual basis, and standards of accreditation. The results showed that the structure of models is based on six macro-dimensions: a) procedures in major, b) academic management, c) infrastructure and services, d) university community, e) university well-being, and f) results of teaching and learning. However, not all countries consider these dimensions in their models, which will depend on the field of education to evaluate and the reality of the system of higher education. In addition, the use of models may be compulsory, depending on the country.
