Abstract

NATALE, Lucía. Integration of Focuses in an Institutional Program for Developing Academic and Professional Writing. RMIE [online]. 2013, vol.18, n.58, pp.685-707. ISSN 1405-6666.

This article presents the general guidelines and devices designed to implement an institutional program for developing academic and professional writing at Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento (Argentina). The program integrates three traditions of teaching writing, based on genres: New Rhetoric, English for Specific Purposes, and the Theory of Genre and Register of Systemic Functional Linguistics. After contextualizing and describing the program, the bases of these perspectives are reviewed to show their articulation in various actions. The purpose is to contribute to debates in the field on academic literacy, with the idea that the relevance of the problem requires a model to elaborate the most fruitful elements of each tradition.

Keywords : program; writing; academic training; professional training; higher education; Argentina.
