Abstract

PARRES SOTO, Ramón Eduardo  and  FLORES MACIAS, Rosa del Carmen. Educational Experience in Visual Art according to a Model of Self-regulated Learning among University Students. RMIE [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.49, pp.597-624. ISSN 1405-6666.

This project reports the results of an experience with university students who participated in a visual art workshop. In the workshop, consideration was given to ideas about academic self-regulation, as well as various proposals for the integrated teaching of art. Students from the Social Sciences and Humanities area participated for three quarters. To evaluate the effects, use was made of the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire by Pintrich, an instrument for self-reporting of the Likert type, previously validated. The pre- and post-test comparison indicates changes in motivation and in some aspects of learning strategies. The results are discussed in terms of the implications of including art in university teaching as a means for promoting the development of academic self-regulation.

Keywords : visual art; learning experiences; learning strategies; academic self-regulation; higher education; Mexico.
