Abstract

ANDRADE CASTRO, Jesús Alberto  and  CAMPO-REDONDO, María Susana. Tecnologías de información: inclusión en la educación basada en lo digital. RMIE [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.36, pp.223-248. ISSN 1405-6666.

This study makes an interpretative analysis of information technologies (IT) and their participation as an agent of social change in education. An analysis is made of the need to reintegrate society and technology into new forms of citizen participation in education. Our premise is that education remains anchored in ideological baggage that represents an elitist notion: it excludes a large number of people, and continues to be associated with technological determinism that reduces the responsibility of creating a new model of society. Lastly, by using the example of Venezuela, a diagnosis is made of the current status of IT in the attempt to incorporate citizens into higher educational levels, as well as proposals aimed at greater citizen participation in digital-based education.

Keywords : information technologies; social marginalization; social development; society of knowledge; Venezuela.
