Abstract

SANTILLAN, Laura. La “educación” y la “escolarización” infantil en tramas de intervención local. Una etnografía en los contornos de la escuela. RMIE [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.34, pp.895-919. ISSN 1405-6666.

We propose a study of children’s education and schooling through a focus on relations, including the intervention of social actors outside of school. Studies on educational trajectories frequently define the school experience in restricted and non-relational terms; i.e., registering only the “entries” and “exits” of children and young people with regard to formal schooling, or turning to schedules as if they involved only the children, and very rarely the school and family. This study analyzes from an ethnographic perspective the way school trajectories, crisscrossed by relations of inequality, are influenced by significant actors and places in the daily interactions of children’s families in the suburbs of greater Buenos Aires.

Keywords : childhood; school trajectory; social differences; family; community organization; Argentina.
