Abstract

CEDILLO AVALOS, Tenoch Esaú. La enseñanza de las matemáticas en la escuela secundaria. Los sistemas algebraicos computarizados. RMIE [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.28, pp.129-153. ISSN 1405-6666.

The article reports on a research project carried out in Mexico from 2000 to 2004. The project followed up on the performance of 800 mathematics teachers who were teaching approximately 200 thousand secondary students at the time. The study was centered on: a) the changes that could occur in the teachers' conceptions and teaching practices, and b) the way the systematic classroom use of a computerized algebraic system affects the student/teacher relationship. The project describes the facilities offered by a computerized algebraic system, in a frame of reference of the teaching of arithmetic and algebra before the appearance of computer technology. The article presents a brief discussion of the theoretical referent on which the study is based, and the method employed in compiling and analyzing the data, and concludes with a discussion of results.
