Abstract

MORENO, Marco  and  LEVACHKINE, Serguei. Searching for Qualitative and Quantitative Features for the Efficient Modification of Scale in Vector Layers. Comp. y Sist. [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.2, pp.104-108. ISSN 2007-9737.

The present article describes an alternative to automate the digital generalization of spatial and descriptive data. Two schemas are presented. The first one is denominated GAME, and it is based on the user experience to define criteria. Its schema frequently generates inconsistencies. Second schema is based on Semantic Analyzer, which automatically obtain the criteria to manipulate the generalization operators. It is obtained by analyzing the topological, logical and functional features of spatial data. In addition, it considers the interaction between objects of the same thematic that by their representation are stored in different layers and takes into account the possible relations between other thematic layers. This schema is proposed to obtain a consistent and efficient modification in scale for certain study cases. A comparative analysis of the results is presented as well.

Keywords : Map generalization; Scale; Topological structure; Spatial semantics; Semantic analyzer.
