Abstract

Palaeodiplothrombidium microscutum gen. et sp. nov. is described based on one adult and one deutonymph preserved in early Miocene amber from Chiapas México. This new taxon is the first record for the Parasitengona Cohort (Acari: Trombidiformes: Prostigmata) for the Chiapas amber and is also the first fossil record for the Johnstonianidae Family, worldwide.
