Abstract

CAMPOS-ARANDA, Daniel F.. Regional flood frequency analysis in hydrological region no. 10 (Sinaloa), México 2. Contrast of regional and local predictions. Agrociencia [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.3, pp.255-270. ISSN 2521-9766.

In the first part of this Regional Flood Frequency Analysis, floods were characterized according to their dates of occurrence, using a seasonal indicator with which the region of influence of each of the 21 hydrometric stations processed was established. The L moments and their quotients were calculated to define the most suitable probability distribution regionally. Two regional methods were then applied, that of stations-years and that of the weighted L moments, both by fitting the GEV distribution. The predictions of the stations-years method were more precise when contrasting them with the local values or those of the historical record and, therefore, based on the results of this method, a regional method was developed to be applied to ungauged watersheds in Hydrological Region No. 10 (Sinaloa).

Keywords : L moments and quotients; statistical test, LP3, GEV and LOG distributions; region of influence; stations-years method; L moment method; standard fit error; relative error.
