Abstract

ZARCO-HIDALGO, Alfonso et al. Modeling of the spectral scale effect in the soil-vegetation system. Agrociencia [online]. 2008, vol.42, n.2, pp.193-204. ISSN 2521-9766.

The problem of scale effect on crop reflectances has been approached in probabilistic and deterministic form. As part of the analysis of various experiments conducted in the Colegio de Postgraduados, Montecillo, México, the probabilistic version was revised using a deterministic formulation of the reflectances of the soil-vegetation mixture. Results showed that the hypothesis of homogeneity implicit in the probabilistic modeling of the scale effect is dependent on the geometry of the plants in a pixel, as well as their canopy and homogeneity of the optical properties of the individual plants. For the case of bare soil, the soil line is invariant in effects of scale and soil moisture. In the final part, an algorithm of modeling of the scale effect is developed for heterogeneous media, based on the hypothesis of energy conservation at the level of one pixel.

Keywords : Scale effect; parametric spaces; homogeneity; reflectance.
