Abstract

MUNIZ-REYES, Erica et al. Captures of Copitarsia decolora (lepidoptera: noctuidae) with traps baited with varying ratios of sex pheromones. Agrociencia [online]. 2007, vol.41, n.5, pp.575-581. ISSN 2521-9766.

Copitarsia decolora (Guenée) is a polyfagous species that is economically important for México and quarantined by the United Sates, impeding access to that country of Mexican products such as cabbage (Brassica oleracea var capitata), broccoli (Brassica oleracea var italica), cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var botritys), coriander (Coriandrum sativum), and lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Varying ratios of a binary mixture of C. decolora sex pheromone, (Z)-9-tetradecen-1-ol (Z9-14:OH) and (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetato (Z9-14:Ac) were evaluated for the capture of adult males in a field of Brassica oleracea var. botrytis in the municipality of Graciano Sánchez, San Luis Potosí, México. The experimental design was randomized complete blocks with the treatments (ratios) 4:1, 10:1, 100:1, 1:4, 1:10, and 1:100 (acetate:alcolhol) and virgin females (control), with four replications. Data were compared with an analysis of variance and the Tukey comparison of means (p≤0.05). The 4:1, 10:1 and 100:1 ratios captured more males (p≤0.05). The species was confirmed as Copitarsia decolora using the morphological traits of male genitalia.

Keywords : Copitarsia decolora; captures; sex pheromones; Z-9-tetradecenyl acetate; Z-9-tetradecenol.
