Two new species of Mammillaria (Cactaceae) from Central Mexico are described. Mammillaria rzedowskiana is placed in subgenus Mammillaria, series Stylothelae (Pfeiff.) K. Schum., and is compared with Mammillaria moelleriana Boed., M. multihamata Boed., and Mammillaria multicentralis R.T. Craig. In the case of Mammillaria occulta it is situated in the subgenus Mammillaria, series Heterochlorae (Salm-Dyck) K. Schum., and is contrasted with M. erectacantha Foerster, and M. apamensis Repp., and M. wiesingeri Boed.
