Abstract

FERNANDEZ-NAVA, Rafael; ARREGUIN-SANCHEZ, María de la Luz  and  QUIROZ-GARCIA, David Leonor. Revision of the genus Condalia (Rhamnaceae) in Mexico. Polibotánica [online]. 2013, n.36, pp.15-40. ISSN 1405-2768.

This research seeks to determine the number of species of Condalia in Mexico and their distribution in the national territory, also the common names and uses for species are reported. Twelve species of Condalia are distributed in North and Central Mexico: Condalia brandegei, C. correllii, C. ericoides, C. fasciculata, C. globosa, C. hookeri, C. mexicana, C. mirandana, C. spathulata, C. velutina, C. viridis and C. warnockii. The following species are endemic to Mexico: C. brandegei, C. fasciculata, C. mexicana, C. mirandana and C. velutina. The most widely distributed species is C. mexicana. A key, descriptions for each of the species, and distribution maps are presented. Condalia species are found between 50 and 2 400 meters above sea level, mostly of them in xerophytic scrublands and tropical deciduous forest.
