Abstract

FERNANDEZ-HERRERIA, Alfonso  and  LOPEZ-LOPEZ, María del Carmen. Educate for peace: The need for an epistemological change. Convergencia [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.64, pp.117-142. ISSN 2448-5799.

A review of the publications carried out in the field of peace shows a conceptual and epistemological decompensation in which the presence of violence takes preference over peace. This article studies in depth the consequences of this fact in the field of education for peace, proposing a new epistemological approach within the framework of the systemic-complex thinking; its methodological consequences will be significant in the practical part of education. From this epistemological point of view the sense of education is reconstructed in general, as well as the education in values, and its impact in the development of good-quality practices in the curriculum and in the school culture. This work, of deconstruction and reconstruction, is the fundamental crux of an authentic commitment to peace values and the development of a real education in peace.

Keywords : education for peace; general-complex epistemology; education in values; school; curriculum.
