Abstract

MORENO SANCHEZ, Enrique. El aeropuerto y el movimiento social de Atenco. Convergencia [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.52, pp.79-96. ISSN 2448-5799.

The present work reflects on the social Movement in the Municipality of San Salvador Atenco, State of Mexico, Mexico, which generated a series of mobilizations of peasant, laborer and popular nature in appropriation and defense of the land in a territory that is part of the metropolitan zone of Mexico City. The movement, which from the start was defined as opposed to the construction of the airport, is not a matter of "peasantry-disintegration" of change of the status from peasants to laborers. One of the main reflections of this article is to precise how this movement is articulated, from the identification of the elements that unify the social demands stated, searching for the limitations such articulation has on the possible construction of a great urban work in the northeast of vast Mexico City.

Keywords : movement; social movement; territory; airport.
