Abstract

ARELLANO HERNANDEZ, Antonio  and  JENSEN PENNINGTON, Henning. Mapeando las redes de investigación en ciencias básicas en la Universidad de Costa Rica. Convergencia [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.42, pp.181-213. ISSN 2448-5799.

This paper is a contribution to the simultaneous study of both the ontological and the methodological elements involved in the knowledge about the socio-technical organization of the university scientific research. In this work we present a computationally assisted analysis of databases which generates maps of heterogeneous relations of the scientific, the technical and the social properties contained in the information databases which are simultaneously quantitative and qualitative. In order to illustrate this, we present a case study analyzing databases of research projects in basic sciences from 1977 to and 2005 of the University of Costa Rica.

Keywords : research mapping; research networks; computational analysis; basic sciences; Costa Rica.
