Abstract

GONZALEZ ESQUIVEL, Carlos E. et al. ¿Es posible evaluar la dimensión social de la sustentabilidad? Aplicación de una metodología en dos comunidades campesinas del valle de Toluca, México. Convergencia [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.40, pp.107-139. ISSN 2448-5799.

An evaluation of the social aspects of sustainability was carried out in two rural communities of the Valley of Toluca, Mexico, using a scheme of attributes-criteria-indicators. One community showed better values in four attributes: stability, resilience, equity and self-dependence, whereas both had similar levels (medium to high) of productivity, adaptability and reliability. Social organization played an important role in the economic and environmental sustainability of both communities.

Keywords : evaluation; sustainability; campesino communities; social organization.
