Abstract

BILBAO UBILLOS, Javier. The Current Crisis: Changes in International Regulations and the Shift in the Border between the Public and the Private. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.2, pp.485-513. ISSN 1405-1079.

This paper seeks to study the consequences in terms of the political economy of the changes currently taking place in the regulation of the natural markets. To that end, it systematically sets out the main crisis management measures and proposals adopted at national and international levels, and examines them to determine whether changes are taking place in institutions to modify the workings of financial markets (encouraging certain behaviours and discouraging or forbidding others) and in what direction the border between the public and the private may have shifted in those markets (regulation versus self-regulation).

Keywords : financial crisis; political economy; regulation; systemic risk.
