Abstract

GOMEZ JOHNSON, Cristina. FMNL's Branches in Los Angeles: Organizational Processes of Salvadorian Refugees (1980-1992). Hist. graf [online]. 2015, n.44, pp.161-187.  Epub Nov 21, 2019. ISSN 1405-0927.

This article is about the FMLN's influence in the Salvadorean migrant organizations constituted in the 80's in Los Angeles. These organizations had a close relationship with the FMLN's commitees in El Salvador. Salvadoreans used their organizational experience to create associations in order to take care of the refugees during those years. In addition they collaborated with the Frente through money transfers or merchandise shippments, to resist government's attacks. Some of these organizations still work in L.A., although their scope has changed. Anyway, this paper tries to highlight the importance of the organizational experience acquired in El Salvador for the creation of migrant organizations in L.A.
