Abstract

MEDINA BRENER, Larisa. Garments of Emotion and Politics: Tradition and Modernity in El Hogar during de 1920s. Hist. graf [online]. 2014, n.42, pp.65-96. ISSN 1405-0927.

During the 1920s, the community surrounding the feminine periodical "El Hogar" consisted in a specific type of women that constituted an emotional community based on traditional activities such as knitting. The items of clothing thus produced served as a means for the expression of new and "modern" ideas, such as feminism; these eventually led to a schism with traditionalfeminine discourse, and into the language of politics, reservedfor the public sphere, masculine in essence.

Keywords : History of emotions; Women's History; Magazine; El Hogar; Feminism; Fashion.
