Abstract

The article analizes how the Mexican Revolution afected life in three haciendas in the central region of Mexico-Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico; and how this businesses managed to face the dificulties and continue both production and commercialization of their products. Marauding, requisition of goods and outright military occupation of the haciendas -on the part of revolutionary forces- are some of the problems which were experimented during the years of 1911 still 1918; but also new taxes and forced loans implemented by diverse state and federal authorities in order to sustain their hegemony. Also examined is how the general administrator of the three states, dealt with the demands for the pay raises and betterment of working conditions by its workers plus the political and administrative strategies of the haciendas' owners confronting revolution on an individual and collective plane.
