Abstract

YTURBE, Corina. Las Leyes de Reforma: ¿Laicidad sin secularización?. Isonomía [online]. 2010, n.33, pp.65-81. ISSN 1405-0218.

Taking as a point of departure the process that led to the Reform Laws, this article aims to understand what was behind the struggle of the 19th century Mexican liberals for the creation of a modern state and, in particular, the establishment of laicité as a legal principle. Also the article seeks to clarify to what extent the adoption of such a principle led to the secularization of Mexican society.

Keywords : secularism; laicité; Reform Laws; liberalism; conservatism.
