The Morel-Lavallée lesion is a closed traumatic lesion that dissects soft tissues through anatomical planes, related to high-energy mechanisms, it can involve only soft tissues or in combination with fractures. It is within the group of traumatic injuries that burn patients can present, where external forces during the impact cause separation between anatomical planes. Through bibliographical research, the most recent publications that include the description and treatment of this lesion are identified. It conditions the interruption of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels in the subcutaneous space that covers the muscular fascia, favoring fluid accumulation; in burn patients with extensive surfaces and associated high-energy trauma. It can be easily missed due to deep burns, edema from high volumes of crystalloids and blood products used in the initial resuscitation phase, adding endothelial capillary leakage. Surgical debridement is the most effective treatment, less invasive methods have been proposed seeking better functional aesthetic results, currently there are few publications. The approach includes a structured assessment, investigation of trauma kinematics, a high index of suspicion, and serial reviews.
