Abstract

QUIROZ-FIGUEROA, F. R.; KU-RODRIGUEZ, S. C.  and  LOYOLA-VARGAS, V. M.. Patrón proteico extracelular durante la embriogénesis somática en suspensiones celulares de Coffea arabica L. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2002, vol.46, n.3, pp.259-263. ISSN 0583-7693.

A wide number of plant species excrete proteins into the culture medium; some of them may participate in the somatic embryogenesis process. Most of the available information in this field of research has been obtained using cell suspension cultures of Daucus carota as model. However, it is necessary to extend this research area to other systems, such as Coffea spp. During this investigation Coffea arabica embryogenic suspension cultures were obtained and the excreted proteins into the culture medium were studied. The extracellular protein concentration of the conditioned culture medium varied through the cycle culture of the cells. The electrophoretic profile obtained by electrofocus and SDS-PAGE showed the presence of two specific proteins, of 27 kDa and a pl of 5.7 and 9.4-9.7 respectively, which are excreted into the culture medium during the induction of the somatic embryogenesis.

Keywords : Extracellular proteins; Coffea arabica; electrophoretic patron.
