Abstract

BECCARIA, Luis  and  GONZALEZ, Mariana. Impactos de la dinámica del mercado de trabajo sobre la distribución del ingreso y la pobreza en Argentina. Prob. Des [online]. 2006, vol.37, n.146, pp.97-120. ISSN 0301-7036.

Since the mid-1970s, Argentina has been suffering from a continuous process of deterioration in its income distribution and an increase in poverty. This paper aims to contribute towards identifying the factors associated with those processes, Jinked mainly to the performance of labor markets. It therefore combines two methods: in the first place, it shows the evolution of different labor variables for individuals from distinct socio-economic strata. Then a micro-econometric breakdown is made for the changes experienced in income distribution and poverty, allowing a quantification of the impact caused by modifications of these variables. The results made it possible to confirm that both these changes were registered at a level and structure of employment and that what happened to the distribution of remunerations was relevant in explaining this distributive dynamic.

Keywords : labor market; income distribution; poverty; micro-simulations.
