Abstract

SILVA-BRIANO, Marcelo et al. Daphnia Ctenodaphnia lumholtzi G. O. Sars, 1885 (Crustacea: Cladocera); an exotic cladoceran in Mexico. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2010, vol.20, n.3, pp.275-280. ISSN 0188-8897.

The cladoceran Daphnia Ctenodaphnia lumholtziG. O. Sars, 1885 with, an Afro-Australia-Asian distribution was found in plankton samples obtained from El Salto dam, Sinaloa, northwest Mexico. Morphological data of the Mexican population of D. lumholtzi are provided and compared with the Australian population; differences found suggest that this taxon represents a species complex. This species reported in the United States in 1993, and now is added to those present in Mexico.

Keywords : Invasive species; cladocerans; morphology; freshwater zooplankton; Mexico.
