Abstract
CASTILLO-GUERRERO, José Alfredo; ZAMORA-OROZCO, Elvia Margarita and CARMONA, Roberto. Nesting acuatic birds in two freshwater artificial ponds nearby La Paz city, B. C. S., Mexico. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2002, vol.12, n.1, pp.85-87. ISSN 0188-8897.
Were recorded five aditional species of breeding waterbirds in two freshwater artificial ponds, adjacents to La Paz City, Baja California Sur, Mexico, more three previously registered (Tachybaptus dominicus, Himantopus mexicanus and Recurvirostra americana) in the oxidation lagoons (OL) and El Centenario reservoir (CR). We visited both areas between May/98 and Decembrer/98. Were observed: Podylimbus podiceps (OL and CR), Butorides virescens (CR), Nyctanassa violacea (OL), Fulica americana (OL and CR) and Charadrius vociferus (OL). This records increse to 28 breeding waterbirds species in La Paz Bay. This records are more related to the finding of those habitats rather than to changes in the ornithofaunistic composition of the area.
