Abstract

SHEA, Michael J.  and  GUTIERREZ CARDENAS, Elena M.. Brexit: Is the British Parliamentary and electoral system in crisis?. Polít. cult. [online]. 2018, n.50, pp.83-106. ISSN 0188-7742.

The referendum left the country divided: 51 against 49%. The subsequent election, called to strengthen the Conservative government, left it with fewer deputies and engaged in a bitter dispute over the outcome. The Labour Party had its own internal war: the base of the party and its leader (the left) were confronted with the deputies. Cameron had not prepared for a negative vote. Confusion, resentment and blind negotiations characterize the next two years. The importance of the consequences of the result was such that it caused a crisis of ideologies, class loyalties, political political organization of renewal and change with a clear goal emerged: Momentum.

Keywords : Brexit; party loyalty; Momentum; tactical vote; referendum..
