Abstract

WALDMAN MITNICK, Gilda. Chile: la persistencia de las memorias antagónicas. Polít. cult. [online]. 2009, n.31, pp.211-234. ISSN 0188-7742.

In Chile, in spite of the last eighteen years of democracy, there are still shadows of the dictatorial past. Duel of the painful past hasn't been yet accomplished, and contradictory and antagonistic memories are still playing a crucial role in society and politics. An example of this can be found in the historical commemorations of September the 11th, in the polemic debates generated around the memorials of outstanding left and right characters, and in the antagonistic interpretations surrounding one of the most emblematic officers of the dictatorial government, Miguel Krassnoff, as shown in two recently published books.

Keywords : Chile; dates; conflicting reports; memorials; characters.
