Abstract

MANCHON, Federico. Crítica a la orientación por valores sobre regímenes internacionales. Polít. cult. [online]. 2006, n.25, pp.47-75. ISSN 0188-7742.

An analytical, critical consideration of a liberal approach to values is carried out to explain the soundness of the international regimes proposed by Hasenclever, Mayer, and Rittberger. By agreeing to, albeit temporarily, the forenamed authors´ classification, this paper presents a critique-based exposition of the approaches they have labeled as rationalist -logic aimed at goals- and sociological -values as defined by an international society-. Later on the proposal of the liberal approach -values as defined within a nation- is presented, and the conclusion features fundamental components for a fourth alternative approach that is based on the decentered nature of contemporary societies, which in turn leads to the need to carry out a multidimensional evaluation of international regimes and their soundness.

Keywords : Liberal approach; rationalist approach; sociological approach; international regimes; modern societies.
