Abstract

PEREZ BRAVO, Alfredo  and  SIERRA MEDEL, Iván Roberto. ¿Hacia un mercado laboral integrado en el sudeste asiático?. Polít. cult. [online]. 2005, n.23, pp.145-158. ISSN 0188-7742.

In light of the demographic situation in the Far East - characterized by the convergence of a country with vast labor reserves that is undergoing accelerated economic development (China), a number of prosperous societies with population stagnation (Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan), and a region that is predominantly young and accounts for 550 million people (Southeast Asia) - the authors analyze the dynamics of flows of migrant workers within ASEAN and examine the possible emergence of closer collaborative ties, leading to a more harmonized labor market that would strengthen the region’s global competitiveness.

Keywords : Labor market; migration; economy; regionalism; Southeast Asia.
