The article’s objective is a critical reflection upon the capacity of the models of risk communication in the intervention of socioenvironmental conflicts. The research was of an exploratory nature and took as case studies two important conflict based on energy development in Chile: the thermoelectrica Castilla and hydroelectric Hidroaysén. It was an integrated study (qualitative-quantitative) that used semi-structured interviews and survey methods, for which we analyzed the first instruments for the elaboration of this text. The results reveal technical and reflexive dimensions for a pertinent communication. In the technical dimension, information management with variables such as integration, actuality, significance and objectivity are marked, and the dimension of information channels with variables such as accessibility, persuasion and trust. In the reflexive dimension, clarity and transparency of information are visibilized, with variables like simplicity, integrity, interactivity and the precise, convenient and adequate means of informing.
