Abstract

CAETANO, Gerardo. The Repressive Archives in the "Transitional Justice" Processes: a Matter of Rights. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.37, pp.9-32. ISSN 0188-7653.

The concept of "transitional justice" and its related processes have experienced a renovation. This article presents some thoughts about a frequently forgotten subject which has special importance in the field of the so called "memory policies": the treatment of the repression files as a matter of human rights. In the first place, the text deals with some features of the Uruguayan situation as a reference point. Then, the topic is considered from a global point of view which shows the main guidelines of the most recent international experience on the subject.

Keywords : justice; transition; memory policies; files; repression; human rights; Uruguay.
